Château Du Parc bottles, leather, and the wooden case

Bienvenue · Our wine

The appellation, in the glass.

Château Du Parc is an estate in the Saint-Émilion appellation, one of the oldest and most considered wine regions in Bordeaux. The grapes are hand picked so the wine tastes of that ground.

The blend is 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, matured in 50% new oak, medium toast. Rounded and opulent: boysenberry jam and raspberry, a modern line, medium body, supple tannins, good acidity. The color is a rich red with sheen. Ripe red fruit against spice. A frank onset, fruit that stays, and a light wooden note through the finish.

This 80/20 Merlot/Cabernet Franc from Dr. Alain Raynaud and Damien Landouar includes redolent and rich aromas of succulent, ripe red fruit, as well as blackberries and heather. A delight on the nose. Lush red fruit flavors mid palate, laid back though both delicate and elegant tannins and fresh acidity. Let it age another year.

Antonio Cordero, Vinous: “Elegant wine, fresh balanced fruit, dry in mouth, nice complexity, mid-long ending.”

Eric L., Vivino: “Delightful. Ripe, woody fruitiness in the bouquet. Medium bodied, dry with gentle acids on the palate.” Shelf card: 92 pts (2014), 4.5/5 (2015), 92 pts (2015), 94 pts (2016).

94 points, James Suckling, Saint-Émilion 2016. 91 points, Andreas Larsson, Best Sommelier in the World 2007. 90 points, Robert Parker.
The estate’s own card, beside the written notes: 94 from James Suckling on the 2016, 91 from Andreas Larsson — voted Best Sommelier in the World in 2007 — and 90 from Robert Parker.

What drinkers wrote

“And the winner of the left vs. right bank today goes to Château Du Parc, St. Émilion. Deep ruby, with a medium nose of raspberry, strawberry, red plum, red cherry, blackberry, forest floor, cedar, leather, and chocolate. Dry with medium acidity, high tannins, high alcohol, medium+ body, and medium flavor intensity that reflects the nose. A strong medium+ finish that rounds out and really brings it home. An outstanding wine and boy, do I need some more of this!”

At the table

How it is drunk

Decanted, with sharp cheeses, red meat, succulent duck, or a fine cigar. The 2019 was also set beside lamb, couscous, and cherry chocolate ice cream.

For the evening

Or a fine cigar, once the bottle has had its hour of air. Cedary oak in the 2016 is already halfway to the leaf.
